Scope and Contents: The strength of this record group is its collection of season brochures including those for classical, pops, family and summer seasons. It is also a source of information regarding symphony events outside of regular season offerings. These include special concerts and symphony partnerships with other Houston and area organizations. Brochures for single concerts, concerts packages, mini-series, and concerts for singles and seniors round out this series.

A limited group of symphony newsletters of various vintages provide information at some greater depth. See also Public Relations newsletters in RG11 called “Symphony Scene” and “Allegro” that were produced between 1979-1989 and 1989-1991 respectively. Newsletters have typically been mailed to subscribers, purchasers of single tickets and a large group of prospective subscribers.

This record group also seeks to collect information regarding the benefits provided specifically to season subscribers. Much of the material is rather ephemeral but does give a picture of the Symphony’s customer service strategy. Please also see the Houston Symphony Magazine / Concert Programs in RG11. Responsibility for its publication has resided variously with the Marketing and Public Relations departments.
