The Board of Trustees records trace the physical and philosophical development of the Houston Symphony. The Houston Symphony Orchestra Association was created in 1913, and officers and the first board of directors were elected at the organizational meeting. The records document the various policies and actions of the Houston Symphony Society. Included are meeting minutes of the board and of various committees, correspondence, board lists and directories, and Presidents’ records.
Access Restrictions: Some records are confidential and are not open to the public for 15 years; other are restricted for 25 years.
Use Restrictions: Use for restricted records is only with the permission of the Archivist.
Acquisition Method: Records were deposited in the Archives in 2002 by Simone Kendrick. Minutes for 1999-2007 were deposited in 2010.

Processing Information: One box of flood-damaged minutes were retrieved and copied. Anne Fisher processed minutes for 1931-1979 in July 2009.
